It what was a soggy, windy, and cool day on Hubbard lake, 10 teams took to the water for the 2014 1 on 1 National Championship to battle the elements looking for 5 solid bronze-backs to bring in come weigh in. Fishing proved to be tough for anglers, and they didn’t get much help from mother nature. With intermittent rain showers and increasing winds only 3 anglers had fish to bring in to weigh. We want to take a moment to thank the Alpena CVB for hosting this event, and being such great hosts for our anglers!
Coming in 1st place with 17 pounds 11 ounces was Bob Kowal! He walked away with $600 in cash and a brand new PowerPole ($1,599 value). He accredited his victory to a simply bass catching technique: tube jigs. Congratulations Bob!
Coming in at 2nd Place was Robert Killick weighing in 4 fish at 10 lbs even. He also got big bass honors of the day with a 4 pound 11 ounce beauty! 2nd Place was $400 and a new Evinrude prop. Big Bass was worth an additional $100 to his winnings!
We want to once again give a special thanks to Alpena for hosting this events, and our anglers who came out to brave the element. Take a moment below to “Like Us” on Facebook if you haven’t!
