One hundred and thirty two boats launched off the shores of Kentucky Lake this morning to kick of the 2013 no entry fee NBAA National Championship event in Gilbertsville, Ky. Day one is slated the Blue Championship day where the top 50 teams will advance to Saturday’s final round. Bob and Rick Perry lead today with 22lbs 12ounces.Overall standings can be found here.
Tomorrow, the Black Championship day will also advance 50 teams to go head to head for Saturday’s Ultimate Championship to decide the 2013 NBAA National Champions.
“This was the biggest bag of fish we have caught to this day,” the Perry’s chimed in. “Not to mention, the 7lb big bass, which was also the biggest single fish we’ve ever caught.” The pair confided they’d only been fishing for six years; today they would conquer 132 teams. “Overall, it was a great day and Kentucky Lake really delivered. We’d like to give credit to Poor Boy Bait’s. We caught them on tubes, we can say that much, but the color will remain confidential!”
Coming in second, were the directors of the Sunday St Clair Power Pole Slam, Kirk Simpson and Jay Bias, trailing by only 2lbs 6ounces. The team will be among the fifty to advance to the Ultimate Championship finals on Saturday to face tomorrow’s fifty Black Championship anglers who make the cut.
The 2013 NBAA National Championship will award cash and prizes totaling over $70,000 this week on Kentucky Lake in Gilbertsville, Ky. The NBAA National Champions will receive a new Ranger 178 Aluminum boat with a 60HP Evinrude e-tec outboard and $3,000 in cash. The second place finishers will also receive a new Ranger 178 Aluminum boat with a 60HP Evinrude e-tec outboard and $2,000 in cash.
Today, NBAA competitors weighed in 1,190lbs of fish with a 100% release rate. Sixty-two total limits were brought in, marking an impressive day on Kentucky waters.
