Blue, Black Championship Days Advance 91 Teams to the 2013 NBAA Ultimate Championship

A rainy day on Kentucky waters saw 127 teams battle it out on day two of the 2013 NBAA National Championship in Gilbertsville, Ky. Today’s weigh in was marked the Black Division Championship day where black division qualifiers compete for the top fifty spots to advance to Saturday’s Ultimate Championship finals. Stuart Cavner and Andy Scheuller led it today with 21 lbs 4 ounces.BlackDivChampPic

Tomorrow, the top fifty teams from both Blue and Black Championship days will meet to decide this year’s NBAA National Champions on Kentucky Lake.

“We’ve fished three national championships and came up short in second; this is our division win,” Cavner and Scheuller said.  “We’re definitely glad to finally take the title, and we hope that’s also the case tomorrow.”

Coming in second, were Karl Kearcher and Carlos Vergara with a respectable 19lbs 2ounces. The team will be among the fifty to advance to the Ultimate Championship finals tomorrow.

2013 NBAA National Championship kicks off on Kentucky Lake

One hundred and thirty two boats launched off the shores of Kentucky Lake this morning to kick of the 2013 no entry fee NBAA National Championship event in Gilbertsville, Ky.  Day one is slated the Blue Championship day where the top 50 teams will advance to Saturday’s final round. Bob and Rick Perry lead today with 22lbs 12ounces.Overall standings can be found here.

Tomorrow, the Black Championship day will also advance 50 teams to go head to head for Saturday’s Ultimate Championship to decide the 2013 NBAA National Champions.

“This was the biggest bag of fish we have caught to this day,” the Perry’s chimed in.  “Not to mention, the 7lb big bass, which was also the biggest single fish we’ve ever caught.” The pair confided they’d only been fishing for six years; today they would conquer 132 teams.  “Overall, it was a great day and Kentucky Lake really delivered.  We’d like to give credit to Poor Boy Bait’s. We caught them on tubes, we can say that much, but the color will remain confidential!” Continue reading
